I posted on Hummingbird recently, but now there seems to be a better understanding of what Hummingbird does.
From what I’ve read, it is a large update to the way Google’s search algorithms work. It has taken the focus away from (what everyone stresses over) keywords and has shifted the focus to conversational phrases.
This helps small businesses because now when people search for, “Where is the cheapest case for my phone.” it will take your location more into affect and those small mom and pop shops that have a small web presence now will be able to compete with the national companies.
The question now is, “What happens to the importance of keywords and PPC (Pay Per Click) ads?
